Welcome to The Awakened Midwife

Mother to two little home born babies, wife, friend and midwife to many.

I have over 7 years experience as a midwife, and have been serving families in the birth world for 10+ years. My own entrance to motherhood taught me so much about myself, about women's innate abilities to birth, and how vitally important it is to know your own self & needs before you interact with the health care system.

My passion lies with educating families to step into their own power & take radical responsibility for their wellbeing.

I have worked in both the public and private health care systems here in Australia, including in private midwifery practice.

I have been privileged to witness births in all settings, including home births, birth centre, hospital, and emergency surgical births.

I am a mother to two homeborn babies, who’s journeys to earth taught me more about women, our bodies and life than nearly a decade of birth work.

I am a crunchy, free thinking, self proclaimed science geek who deeply appreciates the historical knowledge and wisdom of midwifery. My education into birth work started as an apprenticeship where I worked alongside privately practicing midwives.

I started my university studies within weeks of graduating from a bachelor of Nursing in 2013. By 2015 I had completed my Bachelor of Midwifery, acquiring an impressive 2000+clinical hours, following over 60 women throughout their pregnancies, births and fourth trimester journeys in under two years.

I started my career as a fully fledged midwife in private practice, where I unfortunately wasn’t able to work in my full scope due to restrictions on graduate midwives from our regulatory body. After about 9 months I started work at our local public hospital so as not to loose valuable clinical skills.

This was a very dark night of the soul for me, as I lived and breathed midwife led continuity of care.

I knew I wanted to be a mama myself, and in 2017 I welcomed our first baby at home. His birth was tumultuous and hard. It taught me the power and necessity of surrender & undoing the entrenched subconscious programming, something I now teach all women to do in great depth.

In late 2019, mere months before the Covid 19 Pandemic I welcome our second child at home in my own power. Her birth taught me the importance of knowing ones truest self, aligning my actions to my values & enabled me to fully step into my power as a woman and midwife. Catching my own baby with my own hands was the greatest achievement of my life.

In 2020 I was “done” with Midwifery. I felt betrayed by the health care system, by my profession and by our societies view of women in birth. But all things come full circle, and through some deep discovery and soul nourishment The Awakened Midwife was born.

Seeing how vital midwifery skills, knowledge and support is for women through the Covid 19 pandemic has relit the fire in my belly. I look forward to helping many more women find their power, know their truth and birth their own way.
